...probably 2pac.
drake is very popular without being critically acclaimed, kind of like ed sheeran or katy perrydrake. 2pac has a few songs that i like but there’s nothing there for me with drake.
outside of music banksy is still insanely overrated.
take care has a weighted average of 78 on metacritic. drake is disproportionately acclaimed by unserious sources like rolling stone and non-music news outlets. he's kind of like taylor swift in that regard, where some "critics" will rave about the counterintuitive, underappreciated deep side of the artist most critics consider to be slop for idiots.i would say if you're reading this it's too late and take care are considered critically acclaimed, but ya generally it’s agreed that he’s simply a pop act
i have mixed feelings about the beatles, but this polemic vastly overstates how "late" the beatles were to various trends and innovations. in reality, although they usually weren't the absolute first (and thus can't be said to have made many technical innovations), they usually weren't far behind, and they experimented with a much wider variety of production techniques and instrumental variations than the vast majority of their contemporaries. during the critical period of 1965~1967, there are only a handful of bands that really pushed pop/rock music in new directions. from 1968 onward, all bets were off, and you could then find random obscure bands experimenting, in large part because "starting a band" to "record an album" was becoming much more popular among young musicians.Just finished reading the Scaruffi article about the Beatles. It definitely clarified some things for me.
