My elementary school assigned us pen pals from a neighboring school district and mine was a kid who’d write to me about how much he loved Sonic. I was surprised to learn he was black when they had us meet at the end of the school year

I reasoned, then, that Sonic was to blacks as Mario was to Whites. Never really ended up shaking the association, especially since I see it confirmed all the time on here and elsewhere
