i used to have a recurring dream about my dead dog where she's alive and my reaction is something like: i can't believe i forgot about her for so long, i feel so guilty for neglecting her and leaving her alone... but now she's back; i'm gonna take care of her properly this time

this probably comes from guilt i felt about not spending enough time with my dog before she died.

recurring dreams like this seem to contradict overfitting theory; it's not new data being trained on semi-random background data. it's old data reappearing due to emotional significance

anyway, i haven't seen my dog in a dream in a long time now, maybe over a year. every time it used to happen, i'd be frustrated at myself for not being able to remember that she's dead.

I haven’t ever had a reoccurring dream. I wake up and go back to sleep multiple times a day and every time I have a different dream.

Maybe there’s other things in your life you’re neglecting that will be gone one day, such as a loved one or a goal that you’ll regret not accomplishing later.

Did anything happen in your life around the time you stopped having the dream?
