downloaded and played about 15 mins of planescape torment just to see wat it feels like and to compare it to fallout 2's intro.definitely a much better tutorial stage. actually explains the controls. only requires you to fight 1 enemy instead of 1000 roaches like fallout 2.what i don't understand is why classic western RPGs went with this isometric idea. it's like the least immersive/role-playing-like perspective possible other than pure text. you're as zoomed out from first-person as possible, with "you" being a tiny little ant on the screen. and unlike JRPGs, there is no emotive/talking portrait of you that pops up during dialogue or sits at the side of the screen.
