Greta Thunberg: ‘Stand With Gaza,’ ‘Free Palestine’

Greta Thunberg on Friday announced she was striking “in solidarity with Palestine and Gaza” and said the world needs to “speak up and call for an immediate ceasefire, justice and freedom for Palestinians and all civilians affected.”
“Week 270. Today we strike in solidarity with Palestine and Gaza,” Thunberg tweeted. “The world needs to speak up and call for an immediate ceasefire, justice and freedom for Palestinians and all civilians affected. #FreePalestine #IStandWithPalestine #StandWithGaza.”
It took her less than 30 minutes before she felt compelled to take down her initial post and apologize for having a stuffed animal of an octopus in the photo, which her critics claimed was a hidden symbol of anti-Semitism.
“It has come to my knowledge that the stuffed animal shown in my earlier post can be interpreted as a symbol for antisemitism, which I was completely unaware of,” Thunberg said. “The toy in the picture is a tool often used by autistic people as a way to communicate feelings.”
“We are of course against any type of discrimination, and condemn antisemitism in all forms and shapes. This is non-negotiable. That is why I deleted the last post,” she clarified.

We are of course…

Greta encouraged folks to follow Jewish Voice for Peace and the Jewish group IfNotNow, both of which took part in the protest at the Capitol and both of which Anti-Defamation League CEO Jonathan Greenblatt just labeled a “hate group.”

We’ll have to wait and see how long this post stays up as well.
I applaud Greta for taking a principled stand for her beliefs. That said, you can be damn sure this will be the end of her face being plastered all over TV.
