No Greater Love
True love
Love isn’t a thing anymore. Like most other virtues, the spirit of the age has snuffed out love. I don’t mean this in some trite way like lust has taken it’s place. I mean that there is no love in our world.
You don’t gain anything from feeling love for someone or something in this world. Loyalty is a similar virtue in that it is almost seen as a negative and ignorant trait to hold as it does not further your standing in the system. In a road with roads loyalty is old-fashioned. To stand by someone when they are falling makes sense
“Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”
-John 15:13“There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.”
-1 John 4:18
“See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.”
-1 John 3:1“Place me like a seal over your heart, like a seal on your arm; for love is as strong as death, its jealousy unyielding as the grave. It burns like blazing fire, like a mighty flame.”
-Song of Songs 8:6“Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.”
-1 John 4:8
This summaries my point. In a Godless society love is foreign. This may sound dramatic but it’s simply true.
On this day I’m sure you may feel lonely or irritated. But you should find comfort in the fact that The Father cares for us deeply.
