Track Review: TV – Billie Eilish

Track Review: TV – Billie Eilish

I’m 6 months late but I heard a tiktok use a parody of it as a sound and decided to hear the original. I have been ignoring Billie since she turned 18, and then after she got fat. Her first ep was good and her first album was great. She was the exemplary figure of Gen-z counter-culture. The female XXXTentacion. Instead of wearing skintight latex dresses like all the other whores she wore baggy hoodies to hide her body. She was homeschooled and made music with her brother. Her songs were about being sober in a room filled with drug addicts and wanting your oneitis to be gay. Songs with references to the office and TLC shows. Something about her felt different and familiar. She scratched the itch of finally seeing the quirky girl have her eyes bleed black gunk and get cigarettes put out on her.

I didn’t like it when she showed off her tits and I didn’t listen to her newest album. This song is good though. I picture this song sung from the perspective of a cunt that created her own problems, as all women do now.

[Verse 1]
I don’t wanna talk right now
I just wanna watch TV
I’ll stay in the pool and drown
So I don’t have to watch you leave
I put on Survivor just to watch somebody suffer
Maybe I should get some sleep
Sinking in the sofa while they all betray each other

What’s the point of anything?

An apathetic melodramatic woman sulking while doing nothing of value. Women are so catered to now that they have to invent their own crisis. Zoomer women in particular love to romanticize their fake problems and pain, they get off on it.

[Chorus]
All of my friends are missing again
That’s what happens when you fall in love
You don’t have the time, you leave them all behind
You tell yourself, “It’s fine, you’re just in love”

Ok? Idk what the problem is. Billie is great because she’s self-aware that this sounds retarded.

[Verse 2]
Don’t know where you are right now
Did you see me on TV?
I’ll try not to starve myself
Just because you’re mad at me

And I’ll be in denial for at least a little while
What about the plans we made?
The internet’s gone wild watching movie stars on trial
While they’re overturning Roe v. Wade

She’s let her spouse consume her life and gets sad when he doesn’t have the time for her. The last two lines are just to spark some viral attention. Even though she is pro-choice this line doesn’t really mean anything in this context besides that she has so much time on her hands that she pays attention to the news.

[Bridge]
And I don’t get along with anyone

[Outro]
Maybe I’m the problem
Maybe I’m the problem
Maybe I, maybe I, maybe I’m the problem
Maybe I, maybe I, maybe I’m the problem
Maybe I, maybe I, maybe I’m the problem
Maybe I, maybe I, maybe I’m the problem
Maybe I, maybe I, maybe I’m the problem
Maybe I, maybe I, maybe I’m the problem
Baby, I, baby, I, baby, I’m the problem
Baby, I, baby, I, baby, I’m the problem
Baby, I, baby, I, baby, I’m the problem
Baby, I, baby, I, baby, I’m the problem
Baby, I, baby, I, baby, I’m the problem

She is the problem. She has no real reason to be apathetic and depressed but she is. All women need to realize they are the problem. They sabotage their own lives with fantasies the media pumps into their heads. All in all this is a great song and nice departure from the usual cheap slop that fills the airwaves. It’s nice to see a real reflection of our reality portrayed in the mainstream.
