I'd recommend you buy the parts and and go to a local PC shop and have them build it for you(if you're not confident you can do it yourself) instead of buying a prebuilt.

also i ended up getting a 2k monitor in order to not work the gpu as hard. cause i just want maximal speed and 4k is excessive. also went with a slower refresh rate for the same reason.

You bought an entire 4090 just to use it for 1080p 60hz? That 4090 could easily do 4k AND high refresh rate at the same time. The only thing excessive is the amount of GPU power you are wasting! What good is having a card that can run stuff at 300+fps if your monitor can't even display it? You might as well sell your 4090 and buy a 3060 instead.

The best sweet spot is 1440p @ 165hz. With a 4090 you also could go for a 240 or 360hz display. Once you try high refresh rate you won't want to go back.

4k also a good choice. Text looks really smooth and at 1.5x scaling you get a lot of screen real estate (which 1440p also gives you, but not as smooth).

I said 2K not 1080p dummie. the gpu (and the entire PC itself) is for the sole purpose of rendering high quality animation as fast as possible.

high refresh rate is useful for gamers but has no benefit for the work im doing, it wont even be perceptible. 4k res is also meaningless and uses gpu power. if using 2k makes my renders even 1 second faster then its worth it.

hooked up the monitor and it worked. now i gotta install windows and all the drivers, etc. but the build is done.

it was exactly as stressful and infuriating as i thought it would be. i fucking hate computers. so proud of myself for powering through this stupid bullshit.
