had an insight as I was praying the glorious mysteries of the Rosary last night and meditating on the ascension.
cause liek every time i lucid dream i start flying around hmmm. I think the desire to fly is innate in all humans and brings great joy. which would make sense since our glorified bodies have that ability. when i do it in a dream it feels perfectly natural, like of course i should be able to do this.
earlier that day I was reading Acts and the part where Stephen is stoned to death and "fell asleep." i think the concept of sleep in the Bible is a clue to what our glorified state might be like, cause when ur in a dream ur body is incorporeal and uhhh:
Aquinas broke down the 4 properties of the glorified body:
1. lightsome (
clarity)
2. incapable of suffering
(impassible)
3. without difficulty and labor in movement (
agility)
4. perfected by its form (
subtlety)
also when Jesus is resurrected it's like he "woke up" into a glorified body, and so he could ascend after that. but obviously he could access the glorified body whenever he wanted, like with the transfiguration.
tbh it just makes sense that Jesus would ascend into heaven like that.
ALSO the mystery of Mary's assumption into heaven (and Mary's journey in general) is a model of wat all humans are ultimately called towards. Jesus asscended through an act of His own will, whereas Mary was
assumed up into heaven, not through her own power. God lifted her up. Mary can be seen as an analogy of the soul, feminine in nature, passive.
