SUPERSEDURE
You are sleep deprived, in a layover between two long flights, very early in the morning. You are alone in an small, sparse, airport, where nobody knows you. There are these liminal moments, between sleep and wakefulness, where you are hyperaware of your surroundings, and the most minute and distant sounds are very crystal clear to you. Then one sound captures your attention, and you start to get to lost in it, and it pulls you back into your own dreams and you start to fall asleep. The sun is bright and warm through glass windows, but that only makes you want to sleep more. You are sitting on an uncomfortable bench.
The moments of quiet that are interrupted with loud drums make me think of how as you start to give in to sleep, some random noise, or person, or your uncomfortable posture on the bench, jolts you awake.
