As some of you may know, this is a reference to users of a different obscure far-right forum. It was generally observed that users of the forum participated in high(er) quality discussion, but once a twitter presence was established, many orbiters entered their sphere for clout and it generally degraded the quality of discussion to pure memery with no actual insight, thus earning them the “sub-”, or sometimes “unter-” prefix. Although MEM is effectively a reverse phenomenon (moving first from twitter, *then* to a forum), I would contend that the legions of groyper cattle on twitter fit into this category. Forums are the only way to ensure that meaningful serious discussion takes place, because once a dopamine-fueled status mechanism is introduced (updoots) things very quickly descend into appealing to the lowest common denominator. Early 4cuck knew this, although their reward system (replies, or (you)s) did more to reward inflammatory content, hence shills could press slide threads to bait the chuds. Forums can fall victim to this (we oldtroons call this a “flame war”) but being more obscure or having a decent janitorial staff can prevent this.
