hmmmmmmmm nicholas made me think... maybe whatever happens in the next 4 years is more or less inevitable and predetermined, at least as far as the major geopolitical developments go. so if a war in the middle east is looming, either trump or kamala will be taking responsibility for it. considering hanania's thesis about most changes in political ideology being post-hoc justifications for why chaotic, self-interested, improvised decisions are all part of a grand moral narrative, trump having to "own" a war in the middle east would be devastating for the american right. they would be forced to become neocons again in order to justify trump still being good, and JD vance would be loving it. but if kamala had to own that war, we could keep pushing in the right direction ideologically, and "MAGA" wouldn't be inherited/usurped by the rebirth of neoconservatism. nicholas said something like, "let her catch the hot potato"
