didnt finish this but i did watch dogville. it was longer than necessary but i liked the soundstage gimmick and it had a surprisingly fascist message. it was a good movie but i dont think ill watch it again unless i forget about the ending at some point

yi yi is a great movie
back when i was very fascinated by a brighter summer day, only the ultra shit quality version was available, but a criterion release of a high quality version was planned. i never ended up watching it... just kind of fell off my radar. but my strange sniper rifle in tf2 is named A Brighter Summer Day. maybe i'll finally watch it soon. not gonna listen to BAP's take now and potentially spoil the movie.
i love asian "slow cinema" not so much european

i am very curious about what its take on rock n' roll / freedom / anti-communism is. i suspect that it's quite complex. but the film strikes me as pro-freedom/pro-youth from what i know about it without spoilers.
