Opinions on poems?

Are they relics of an era without modern entertainment or a still legit artform that will live on? I love poetry John Donne, William Wordsworth, John Millton all great poets but will there be new ones like them, and if so will they ever get the recognition? The noise of the modern world might be too much for such a delicate artform.

lyric poetry isn't the only kind of poetry
i actually kind of struggle with novel-length poems though... like i've had the hermit in greece sitting on my shelf for years and haven't read more than like 15 pages of it. i couldn't get into the cantos either.

Poetry is dominated by women writing in "free verse." Rupi Kaur is the most successful modern day poet and her poems have the sophistication of a middle-school girl's. Poetry is not dead but it certainly needs better stimulation than this:

This is true, also the only somewhat popular form seems to be slam poetry which is literally just libtards talking about their politics in a barely or absolutely not poetic way.

Big parts of the Bible are poetic so take that up with God. I think this opinion comes into being because people are forced to engage with poems when they are still immature therefore develop an immature and hostile attitude in their direction.
