did that earlier today because i was retarded and made my character have a strength of 4. i also cheated and watched part of a fallout 2 speedrun that shows how u to do it without people attacking you. which is pretty funny and i probably wouldn't have thought of it myself so i don't feel like anything was spoiled for me by watching this

after spending a long time doing nothing but playing fallout 2 (i have not eaten in nearly 24 hours), i think i'm starting to understand what anthony meant by gaming depression :smog:

i discovered that fallout 2 has a built-in cuck simulator. you can get married to a whore, she starts following you around, some NPCs will ask you if they can fuck her, and you can say yes. alternatively, you can sell her into slavery :violin:

i like how they put her in an easy-to-discover location, made her stats terrible, and made it impossible to tell her not to follow you into every combat encounter. this makes it very likely that she'll get killed (trying to keep her alive is like playing on nightmare mode). this is punishment for being a simp.

it would be better if they made her truly intolerable, like if she had a 50% chance of accidentally shooting you on every turn, or if she slowly depleted your money.

there is a very cringe anti-racism quest in broken hills where the mutants are obviously niggers and the people jailed for hating mutants are in jail for hate speech, but they are portrayed as mindless idiots.

probably 10x more annoying than anything in the entirety of disco elysium -- which has extensive racism-related dialogue. in disco elysium, due to the dev's knowledge of "the alt-right"/online intellectual racism, racists and racist dialogue is at least semi-realistic -- the racists and racist speech options have justifications, things that sound like what "racists" might actually say. here, it is depicted as borderline mentally retarded, mindless hate with literally no justification whatsoever.

90s liberal perception of "racism" < 2010s online commie perception of "racism"

the people who know about us at least have *some* understanding of us.

i just googled "disco elysium homosexuality" and discovered that kim kitsuragi is a faggot. i haven't actually finished disco elysium, so i don't know if this comes up without you digging for it.

regardless, both games are completely pozzed.

fallout 2 is much more addictive and more fun to play than planescape torment due to the world map, random encounters, the skills/perks/leveling system, and combat in general. you have the urge to explore and make your character stronger. it also lends itself to actually feeling more like you are your character.

however, it is a goofy, shallower game. it is often cringe; yesterday, i had two random encounters that referenced monty python -- in a row. the humor is very dated. the dialogue options that avoid conflict (each time i have seen them) feel undeserved and silly. it is "reddit"

i only played new vegas for about 30 minutes. i very much regret this, mainly because i feel bad for leaving my little brother to play it alone. at the time, i was very disinterested in video games and had just discovered seasonal anime.

other than this, i've only played fallout 3. fallout 2 is probably a "better game," but i do think it is admirable how many elements were translated into the fps format - VATS, the pip boy, the art direction, random encounters, etc. at the same time, nearly all RPG elements of fallout 3 are very weak. i have no memory of character stats despite playing through the game multiple times, because it was incredibly easy to become overpowered quickly. having "builds" was not really a thing. right now, in fallout 2, i am still suffering from my uninformed decision to pick an agility of 4 -- this has permanently locked me out of shooting more than once per turn (unless i use drugs, which i have considered). to get around this, i am currently working on leveraging my charisma of 9 to acquire 4 companions (which is a lot). this will compensate for the weakness i started with. it also makes me want to play the game again with different stats. the way you play is entirely different. this is a very good RPG thing.

the music in fallout 3 is vastly superior (hot take)

just play kowloon's gate or garage or something and do what all the newfriends do with them and decide what everything means yourself

deciding what things mean instead of trying to understand what things mean is far less scary and makes the game your friend!
