i mean it's funny but out of all the things to be the final straw of this stuff, the actual voice actor being black and just having a black version of the character he's voicing just as a goofy thing is the least offensive or patronizing thing it could've been. imagine if putin was contemplating invading ukraine for a long time and then finally decided to do it cause a guy with a ukrainian accent didn't hold the door open for him
the fact that they hired a negro THUG to voice a nerdy pale character is outrageous.

i have never watched a single dubbed anime since i was a small child except garzey's wing and ghost stories and therefore this does not affect me. even when i was 8 and watching hellsing on youtube it was with subs

people who are not only fine with dubs, but CHOOSE to use dubs? they deserve far worse, until they finally realize the grave decisions they've made

ppl who live in tokyo can hang out at small venues where modestly-dressed indie idoru groups show up to perform quirky alternative styles at the behest of autistic otaku producer-sans

the way japanese people are constantly saying to do things in a ちゃんと manner is very important
this is translated as "properly" but i feel like it's more deeply understood than it would be if you told someone to do something "properly" in english without explaining further. it doesn't really just mean that... i thought about this after watching that k-on clip where ui says that santa-san will deliver presents "properly." but a more accurate translation would be something like "as he should"

it's about everything being in its right place and the natural order not being upset. so even if you technically complete a task or technically do your work as assigned, if you don't do it as it should be, the balance of the universe will be upset.

japanese people grow up hearing ganbare this, chanto that. i know genetics matter more than "culture" but their culture is definitely oriented to produce high quality products. if you look into jewish culture they have all these funny words that revolve around scamming people and cheating.
