if you're in a konbini where there's a machine beside the cashier where you choose how to pay instead of handing money to the cashier, the age verification is just a screen saying "are you of legal age to buy this" and you hit yesi think they're scared to ID foreigners or just don't ID people because they assume you're not lying or willing to break the law. or they just have no idea how older vs younger white people look. my brother bought alcohol in japan when he was like 16
