i feel like i never made any moral choices in disco elysium. the options were just different ways of achieving the same result -- getting to the same place in different ways. or quirking yourself up and mildly annoying ur sidekick with racism or causing a nuisance vs not annoying people.
spoiler: if you choose to shoot cunoesse and it actually hits her, you just get a game over.
i think the game design in disco elysium revolved primarily around the player being responsible for what happens to the protagonist's personality and character development. in most CRPGs, the consequences of player choice are much more impactful to the world around the protagonist and the overall story.
note: i have not finished disco elysium, and i am still really hoping there are 2 branching plot outcomes where either 1) the union is destroyed, or 2) the union maintains its stronghold. then it will actually feel like all the political stuff (being able to determine if harry (raphael ambrosius) is a commie vs a liberal vs a fascist) actually has consequences for the plot.
i will confirm later.
