Has anyone read Lord Valentine's Castle by Robert Silverberg? I don't even like movies but I think this story would be pretty good in a film format if well made.
I read it more than a decade ago but I still remember it because the world was so interesting. It's sci-fi but technology is barely used outside of space travel and some machine that punishes criminals by giving them nightmares. The government is basically the Holy Roman Empire with Prince-electors.
Maybe it's just nostalgia but it had such a good vibe.

I could never see the appeal in Pound. He seems to me much too self-indulgent.

ive read it a couple times, there’s a few fun essays in there. Like with bam u can finish it in an hour or 2.

He does have a few entries where he goes into how he’s feeling from not sleeping for hours on end, mimicking the way Hunter S. Thompson described his experiences with drugs. I found these tedious. The ending is also very underwhelming

i get the opposite impression, have u read his radio speeches?
No, I knew of them but never read them. Their style reminds me of Thomas777, though lol. And I don't mean that he's a self-indulgent thinker. I like both him and Eliot, but not as poets.
